Connect with Your RA Friends

updated February 15, 2021
Since Montreal remains in a Covid-19 Red Zone, the planned bus trips for skiing and snowshoeing are cancelled. Thank you for your willingness to participate in these outings. We certainly missed getting together with the Randonnée family, but not the early morning departures in -20C weather!
We hope you have been enjoying the magnificent winter weather with your friends and family. We invite you to share your experiences on The Randonnée Aventure Facebook page.
See you on the trails close to home

January 19 2021 – update

The confirmation of dates and destinations for the two winter sports bus trips (February 13th and 27th) has been deferred until public health restrictions have been loosened. In the meantime we encourage you to enjoy our winter paradise on your own.

As a challenge we suggest that you register for the virtual 55th Canadian Ski Marathon from February 5th-March 7th. 2021. This is a unique opportunity to participate in this legendary event at your own pace, in your own region and when it suits you during the 29 days of the event.

The different categories have been adapted to make everything possible independently: Tourer (15 km+), Half-marathon (one day, 45km), Coureur des Bois (2 days, 50km + 50 km)

The fee for Tourers is $25

January 1, 20201

With winter approaching we have all been hoping to find a way to get together with our RA friends! While organized activities are not allowed while Montreal remains in a red zone, at this time, exercising outdoors in groups of a maximum of eight people with physical distancing is permitted.

The good news: Since regular activities have been on hold, the club has extended all paid memberships by one year without charge to our members. Thus if you had a paid membership during the winter of 2020, you are still a current member for the winter of 2021.

RA has reserved buses for two Saturday outings for current members only. Tentative dates and destinations are Far Hills, Val Morin on February 13, 2021 and Parc du Mont Orford on February 27, 2021. The trips will proceed only if we are no longer in a Red Zone.

To provide physical distancing on the bus, only 28 seats will be available for each trip. The cost is $55 (including trail fees) per person (and has been subsidized by the club). Pre-registration instructions will follow soon. No walk-ons or private sales will be permitted.

The centers have Covid-19 restrictions on access to their facilities. Bathrooms will be open. No food or personal belongings are permitted in inside areas. Warming huts may be available with restricted access. You must be prepared to spend the whole day outdoors. Up-dated information will be provided to members who are registered for the trip.

In addition to the bus trips, we are preparing a list of email addresses that will be available to all RA members who say they want to be on them. This will be similar to the lists used in the summer for hiking and cycling. The lists can be used to connect with members you have skied or snowshoed with in recent years, or to suggest an outing to a specific destination on a particular day, or to report on places that others might find interesting. Please let us know before December 31 whether you wish your name and email address to be on the list by sending an email to wintersports@randonnee.ca

You can also keep in touch via our Facebook group where you can connect with others, and share your photos and the great activities you’ve done so far this season: https://www.facebook.com/groups/randonneeaventure/

Important guidance and ideas for safe activities as well as a Code of Conduct in the time of COVID-19 are available on the Rando Quebec website:

Some links to local areas will be provided on the Randonnée website.

RA will provide updates whenever we can. Until then, keep well and exercise safely
