This walk brings you to what was known as the fifth most industrial centre of Canada. Maisonneuve was a city of itself between 1883 and 1918\, the year when it then became part of Montreal. At this time\, there was a soap factory\, textile factory\, shoe factory and more. DESCRIPTION:Châteauguay\, QC\nSaturday 9 May 2026\nBeautiful rides in mostly flat\, rural areas only a short drive from Montreal. Riders can do a longer early-season route without worrying about hills. The shortest route is 50 km (with 100 meters of climb) and starts along a bike path\, then follows the Chateauguay River\, and returns along Lac St Louis. The 70 km route (98 m climb) goes in the opposite direction\, following Lac St Louis and then the Beauharnois Canal before circling back through farming areas and along the Chateauguay River. The longer rides (82 km with 144 m climb; 93 km and 126 m) also have lake and riverside stretches but go further south before returning. DESCRIPTION:Spring Cycling Weekend\nLevis/Quebec City\nFriday 22 May to Monday 25 May\, 2026\nA weekend in Lévis/Quebec City is back on the RA calendar by popular demand! This is a beautiful area for cycling\, with a variety of routes. Ride in the beautiful Lévis area and follow part of Quebec’s “Route Verte” which runs along the St. Lawrence River. Discover the Parcours des Anses\, a cycling path along the Saint-Lawrence River that offers a panoramic view of the fortifications of Quebec City\, the Frontenac castle\, Île d’Orléans and the Montmorency Falls. Inland portions of rides go through forests and fields\, in many stretches taking advantage of well-designed bike paths such as the Parcours Harlaka\, the Cycloroute de Bellechasse\, and the Parcours de la Rivière Etchemin. \nOr take the ferry across the river and ride into Quebec City and on to the Montmorency Falls or on the city’s bike paths. Another option is to drive to the Île d’Orleans and cycle around this beautiful and historic island. \nNote that this weekend is not on the Victoria Day long weekend but rather one week later to benefit from better weather and lower prices. \nFor more information on ride elevations and distances\, click here. \nAccommodation: : Double occupancy in comfortable rooms at the Quality Inn and Suites Lévis. Rooms have 2 double beds\, wifi\, TV\, mini-fridge\, coffee-maker\, microwave\, and hair dryer. The lunch stop is in Franklin\, the best place for drinking spring water in Quebec. The 70 km ride is a bit more challenging after lunch but the descents are carefree. Cyclists may also enjoy the quiet bike path by the wood in Ste-Clothilde.The 77 km ride is more demanding\, particularly the Stevensen hill. Note the need for caution in descent down Covey Hill. There is also a gentle 50 km route. The vertical climb for each ride: 50 km: 95 m; 70 km: 306 m; 77 km: 491 m. The 47 km ride is largely on bike paths with a lunch stop at a marina. The 76 km ride provides a nice view of the St Laurence River and the Champlain bridge as well as many giant wind turbines. The lunch stop is in a park (do not miss Georges St-Pierre’s statue and Trudeau gravesite). The 93 km ride crosses 6 bridges including the famous one in Dewittville\, now renovated. The lunch stop is in front of a dam. (Vertical climbs for the rides are 67\, 103\, and 106 meters respectively). DESCRIPTION:Berthierville\, QC\nSaturday 11 July 2026\nThe historic village of Berthierville offers a nice waterfront and 4 pleasant cycling routes through rich farming country. There is a lovely new route that goes to the Iles de Berthierville and then takes a ferry downriver before looping back through the countryside (67 km\, 245 m climb). Several other routes pass through the covered bridge Pont Grandchamp. Two shorter routes are fairly flat (49 and 58 km with climbs of 172 m and 233 m respectively)\, both with a lunch stop in Sainte-Élisabeth. The slightly longer 73 km route is moderately hilly (346 m of climb)\, with a lunch stop in either Sainte-Élisabeth or Saint-Félix-de-Valois. The 77 km route (563 m climb) provides a scenic and hilly ride that is mostly uphill until lunch at Saint-Félix-de-Valois\, and mostly downhill thereafter. DESCRIPTION:Vankleek Hill\, ON\nSaturday 25 July 2026\nRoutes newly redesigned to avoid traffic and rough roads. Rides start in Vankleek Hill\, which is proud of its well-preserved Victorian architecture: it is the “Gingerbread Capital of Ontario.” All cyclists start on the same route but there is a choice of different lengths. Rides are on quiet roads through farmland and a few small towns and all have a stretch along the Ottawa River with lovely views. All rides also pass by Voyageur Park and a beach stop would be possible on the shortest ride. At the end of the ride there is a picnic area beside the parking lot to wind down with friends: bring your own snacks and drinks. DESCRIPTION:Summer Cycling Weekend\nNominingue\, QC\nFriday 14 August to Sunday 16 August\, 2026 (two nights)\nNominingue is located in the beautiful Upper Laurentian region in Quebec. Discover the quiet and peaceful backcountry north of Labelle and its charming small villages\, with good roads and the Petit Train du Nord cycling path. On Saturday\, there is an option to cycle in the beautiful Mont-Laurier area. The route lengths range from 49 to 92 km. Most of the paths are for the intermediate level riders\, but there are circuits which include some notable ascents for the more athletic types.  \nThis is an area of many lakes\, and the municipal beach a short cycle from the hotel offers the option of a swim at the end of the day. \nFor more information on ride elevations and distances\, click here. \nAccommodation: : Comfortable rooms with two queen-sized beds\, cable TV\, air conditioning and mini-fridge at  Le Club et Hôtel du Golf Nominingue. \nCost: $270 for members. Non-members must also purchase a $35 membership. \nIncludes: 2 nights accommodation\, Friday and Saturday (double occupancy). Participants are responsible for their own meals. The hotel restaurant has a range of breakfast and dinner choices and there are other dining options nearby.
